My First Song

I chose this song as my first to share for two reasons.

First, this was the song I made a recording of when I was 5, that when discovered by my mom, I was so embarrassed that I clamped my lips shut for the following 27 years.

Second, I started learning this song 3 weeks ago, and was immediately shocked by the difficulty. In my head, I’d already committed to this being the first song I share, and I was very uncertain that I’d be able to learn this well enough to share in time.

But 50 reps or so later, compounded with an obsessive amount of breathwork, technical exercises, and similar effort in learning three other, very different songs…

There’s no better song to begin this next chapter with, perfection be damned.

And how fitting that the song that sealed my lips would also unzip them.

P.S. Making this video was quite the learning experience, involving three pieces of software I’d never used before, the most tech I’ve ever had to make play nice together, and discovering that file compression during export is a real nuisance.
